who am I

Miles can be contacted on :tranfrican@gmail.com  or skype: Mylztah

I am a feminist and I define not only my  feminism but my identity. I ask questions,I cross boundaries, break binaries and speak out against all forms of injustices.I am a journalist, a pacifist and a human rights defender. I identify as a  transgender person.  I refuse to benefit and fit in’  a society, culture and systems which dehumanises  me and my mothers, frowns upon my sisters  and  oppresses my daughters.

I believe a revolution begins with a question, so i  keep questioning things, challenging patriarchy and all forms of oppressive power that  perpetuates  violations and inequalities. I speak out, stand up and  refuse to conform to norms that exacerbate  our subjugation and that of others…Never again!

  1. Dear Miles,

My name is Ashlee. I’m co-founder of the Youshare Project, with the mission to connect people around the world through true, personal stories. I recently stumbled across your blog and have spent the last hour reading several of your stories. They’re honest, beautifully written, and compelling. I especially was drawn to “The Chains That Bind Us” and “Of Transition and ‘Tads of Grey.'”

I think your story would make a wonderful youshare, because I know many other people living all around the world could identify, and those who can’t could learn the challenges, including the highs and lows, of being transgender, and hopefully be more open about people who may be different from themselves.

If this sounds interesting to you, I would love to email you directly with more information and formally invite you to adapt of of the above stories – or another of your stories which you feel is appropriate – to youshare and share it with the project. You have my email address and website. I hope to hear from you soon.

    Best,
    Ashlee
